When I began working on Detroit: Become Human, my focus was scoring Connor’s world. Because Connor is an android, the challenge was to create music that felt intelligent, precise, and slightly removed from human emotion. From the beginning, the idea was that the score should feel almost “unplugged,” even when orchestral elements were involved.
To achieve that, I built the sound of the score around analog and modular vintage synthesizers, shaping a palette that felt mechanical but still expressive. Even when orchestral colors appeared, they were treated in ways that aligned with Connor’s perspective, controlled, calculated, and evolving. The goal was to create a musical language that reflected an android slowly learning to understand the human world around him.
