When I began working on The Night, the central musical idea was to explore tension through microtonality. Horror often relies on subtle shifts in harmony to create unease, and microtones offered a way to push that feeling even further, allowing the music to sit just slightly outside the listener’s expectations. The score needed to feel unsettling from the inside out, almost like the ground beneath the characters was constantly shifting.

At the same time, I wanted the music to draw from Persian classical traditions, bringing elements of that musical language into the atmosphere of the film. Combining microtonal writing with instruments and ideas rooted in Persian music created a sound world that felt both culturally grounded and deeply disorienting. The result was a score that moves between psychological tension and a more ancient, haunting musical identity.
