When I began working on The Signal, the music needed to reflect the film’s sense of mystery and the feeling that something far larger was unfolding just beyond what the characters could understand. The story moves between the familiar world and something much more cosmic, so the score had to exist in that space between human emotion and the unknown.
I approached the music with a focus on atmosphere and scale, combining orchestral elements with evolving electronic textures that could slowly reveal themselves as the story expanded. The goal was to create a sense of wonder and unease at the same time, allowing the music to mirror the characters’ journey as they begin to realize that the world they thought they understood may only be a small part of something much bigger.
